THIS IS YOUR FREESTYLE BLAST #1
and thank you for grabbing the first copy of my new Freestyle Blast Newsletter!
The idea behind this Newsletter is to be able to communicate and engage with the Freestyle community outside of Social Media. Subscribing to this Newsletter tells me that you're interested, a true fan, and follower of the Freestyle Music genre.
Whether as an artist, fan or a part of the Freestyle music personnel, my goal is to deliver to you as much value as I can, and to gain from you value that you too can share with us.
My name is Latif Mercado, and I am a thirty-year veteran of the genre, a manager and booking agent for some of Freestyle's greatest artists, including Lil' Suzy and The Cover Girls, but I'm also a fan, not just of the music, but rather this machine that has been running non-stop since the '80s.
My respect and appreciation for the genre as well as the talent and brilliance behind it all is deeper than what anyone would know, so believe that my intentions are pure and for the continued success of Freestyle music.
Now, before I go any further, I want to make sure that this Newsletter is something you're interested in receiving. It is totally FREE and will arrive in your inbox each month. If so, please, click this link and resend your best email address to

Though the current design might seem a bit primitive, trust that it will improve as we move along. I want to put most of my energy into the content and will shape this newsletter as we continue.
So whether you decide to stay on board or jump ship, I'd just like to say thank you for at least giving me a shot.
So with that said... let's go!
WHAT'S NEW
Well for one... This Newsletter, which we just spoke about.
Now there's a lot more happening in the genre, but let's first address the elephant in the room, so that you guys are at least up to date on a few things that I myself am working on.
Starting with my new book called Fruits and Nuts that I was hoping to have out by next month, but since when have I ever put a book out on time?
If you have not checked out any of my books, click this link and take a look around.
I personally love writing, fictitious stories mostly, and all of my stories run a pretty close parallel to my own life. In fact, though I have yet to write my autobiography, extracting certain parts of all my books combined could give you a good idea of what my life's been about... so far!
Artist Spotlight
Hey, might as well start off with this news. Michelle Valentine, the voice behind that incredible ballad, Wishing On A Star has rejoined The Cover Girls.
Anyone who's been following the CGs, and even more so those who are true CG fans know, that for many years this group has been impersonated by women who never had anything ever to do with the group.
But in 2008 during the Freestyle Music awards in Miami-dade Florida, for the first time in about 20 years, The "Original" Cover Girls reunited, not for a performance, just a long-overdue reunion of Angel, Caroline, and Sunshine.
Then, in 2012, the OCGs reunited again, but this time Margo stepped in for Sunshine to perform for the first time in over 20 years at Long Beach Pride, to a crowd of over 20,000 wonderful fans.
The event was such a success and the girls felt so good that they wanted to keep it going, and now this year, not only are The Cover Girls celebrating 35 years in the business, but also 10 years of having reunited.
In fact, Here's a bit of what The Cover Girls have been up to
Freestyle Shows Heading Your Way
Freestyle is alive and kicking, and just to warm up this Newsletter with a couple of shows, I chose these two to feature, but please, don't think this is it, because it's not! There are many Freestyle club and concert events happening all the time and all over the country, and I want to figure out a way of showcasing them in this Newsletter, but for now, here you go, and I hope to see you at at least one of them.
First it's the Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam at the Watsco Center in Miami, FL. Just look at that incredible line-up, and be on the lookout for more Freestyle Explosion happening this year, and yes, Lil' Suzy will be hitting a few stages this year, so don't miss it!
Then May 27th in Daytona, another incredible line-up, but this time, to change it up a bit, Angel will be performing solo, and if you've never seen her Angel OCG show, well then you're in for a treat.
Besides the information I plan on sharing, I also want to implement opportunities for you, my readers, whether that'll be Free or discounted concert tickets, exclusive offers on merchandise, and private Meetups.
I appreciate you subscribing and checking out this Newsletter, and I hope you stick around and witness as this thing improves and grows.
So thank you again, and until next time... This was your Freestyle Blast!
